Renaye Wade was the victim of a devastating car crash caused by a Distracted Driver that left her in a coma for over a month. She has since endured numerous surgeries and physical therapy intended to help restore her mobility and speech. When Renaye awoke from her coma, she lost many memories of high school and didn’t remember her boyfriend of over a year. These are just a few examples of the devastating effects associated with a traumatic brain injury.
March 15th, 2016 marks the 3rd anniversary of that tragic day that changed her life. However Renaye also views it as the day she started on a personal mission to educate others about the dangers of Distracted Driving. Despite the challenges and time consuming therapy she’s faced, Renaye has travelled the province and has spoken to hundreds of high school students about her personal journey, and the dangers of texting and driving.
With the help of her family and friends, Renaye also created a non-profit organization called RADD (Renaye Against Distracted Driving) so she can continue to educated others.
A formal celebration on March 12th, 2016 is planned to acknowledge Renaye and all that she has accomplished. All funds raised from the formal dinner will help fund Renaye’s continuing effort to #ENDdistractedDriving.
