Michael N. Hoosein
Prior to joining James H. Brown & Associates in 2004, Mr. Hoosein was employed for several years by a major multinational insurance company in Toronto. He brings significant experience, training and inside knowledge with respect to the workings of the insurance industry to his personal injury practice. Mr. Hoosein practices exclusively in the areas of personal injury law, class action litigation and all aspects of insurance law including life and disability insurance claims. He has successfully handled motor vehicle accident claims, slip and fall claims, and disability and insurance dispute cases in addition to major cases involving quadriplegia, paraplegia and brain injuries resulting in significant awards to injured victims. In keeping with his strong focus on his civil litigation and dispute resolution practice, Mr. Hoosein obtained his Master of Laws (LL.M) in 2013 from Osgoode Hall Law School with specialization in Civil Litigation and Dispute Resolution.
Mr. Hoosein has appeared at all levels of court in Alberta, namely the Alberta Provincial Court, Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench and the Alberta Court of Appeal. Mr. Hoosein is the 2017-2018 President of the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association (ACTLA), a member of the American Association for Justice (formerly the American Trial Lawyers Association) and the Canadian Bar Association. He has authored papers for conferences. He has been an Examiner and Instructor for several years with the Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education (CPLED), which is the Bar admission program for law school graduates seeking admission into the legal profession. Mr. Hoosein is very active in the community and volunteers in his spare time as well as having served on the boards of various community organizations. When he is not practicing law or volunteering, Mr. Hoosein enjoys spending time with his wife and young child, writing poetry and drumming.
