Mr. Sowemimo has extensive experience working in the Insurance Industry before attending Law School at the University of Manitoba. David completed his articles at a personal injury law firm in Edmonton and was called to the Alberta Bar in August, 2016. Mr. Sowemimo has experience conducting questionings, mediations and appearing at the Alberta Court of King’s Bench.

In addition to getting his clients their maximum compensation, David uses his experience to assist his clients with their accident benefit claims, including their disability and medical coverage claims. He has represented clients involved in complex cases with multiple parties in different jurisdictions such as Alberta, North West Territories, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. David is fluent in both English and Yoruba. David is a member of Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association, Insurance Institute of Canada and the Canadian Bar Association.

Mr. Sowemimo is the recipient of the following awards: Judge Ross A. Award, Emerging Leader Award, Ahava Halpern & Frank Lavitt Law Student Award and the University of Manitoba, Faculty of Arts Deans Honours Award (2005-2006). Additionally, Mr. Sowemimo was recently nominated as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Lawyers in Canada by Canadian Lawyer Magazine.

He spends his spare time playing soccer, travelling, and David also volunteers his time providing mentorship to young professionals through the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council.

As part of my commitment to serving my local community, I’ve worked on and with several initiatives to better Edmonton as a whole. Some of these initiatives include working on the Edmonton Police Commission as a Police Commissioner and being a member of the Professional Standards Committee of the Police Commission. Aside from my work with local law enforcement, I was the Founder of the Black Law Students Entrance Scholarship at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law. I am a board member/ Secretary of the Love Expressions Multicultural Society here in Edmonton, and I regularly volunteer with the Edmonton Region Immigrant Employment Council. Even outside my role as a personal injury lawyer, I do everything I can to serve and provide for our local Edmonton community.
